Our candidate in the East Ham Central by-election writes to his fellow residents:
On May 6th, you will have a chance to elect a local Councillor for East Ham Central. I am writing to you to ask for your vote.
I have lived in the East Ham Central ward for over six years with my family. As a local resident, I have been an active member of the local community and many of you will know me as a school governor or a self-employed businessman. Like you I feel our current Labour councillors are not delivering for us. That is why I am standing to represent you.
I will work with businesses as we recover from the Covid pandemic to ensure central government funding is delivered to you, by Newham Council. And as we see elsewhere, Conservative-held councils in London are delivering high quality services without raising your Council Tax or residents' parking charges to protect the lowest paid and vulnerable from the additional financial burden caused by the Covid pandemic.
I will promote a 'Street Watch' scheme bringing together local residents, businesses, parents and the police to detect and deter crime by greater public participation. I will also fight for temporary CCTV cameras as part of the scheme to be deployed in crime hotspots.
I have been an elected school governor since 2017. As a father of two young children, I am passionate about education and giving children the confidence and skills they need to develop as they grow.
Sk Zakir Hossain.
